In Aura Sensae, safety is not a limitation, but an enabler of productivity. Our collaborative robotics technologies are designed to ensure maximum operator protection without sacrifice the efficiency of industrial processes. In this page, we have collected answers to frequently asked questions about certifications, technical integration, and performance of our Hexopad and Hexopus systems, to help you understand how our vision of “sensitive space” can transform work environment.
FAQ
What is the detection time after human presence is detected?
The typical detection time is within 15 ms.
In which countries can I install Aura Sensae products?
Aura Sensae products are currently targeting certification for Europe and North America markets.
Can I connect two or more Hexopad units together?
Yes — The Hexopad architecture is modular and can connect multiple units to extend coverage, it extends with one evaluation unit for every two satellites — same master.
What added value do I get from Aura Sensae safety systems?
Hexopad: Unlike traditional floor scanners — which are complex to install and sensitive to environmental interference — Hexopad creates a stable, reliable safety area unaffected by environmental disturbance or passing objects.
Hexopus: Creates a dynamic safety area around the cobot EOAT, maintaining top safety performance without unnecessary slowdowns or stops — directly protecting your productivity and making the application collaborative.
Can the sensor distinguish between humans and objects among the detected obstacles?
Yes — our systems distinguish humans from other objects. This can reduce unnecessary slowdowns or stops compared with other solutions.
What is the angular resolution of the sensors?
The sensors provide 360° coverage, and the safety zones can be configured and modulated for any required angle.
Can I integrate Hexopad seamlessly into my existing setup?
Yes — retrofitting existing production lines is a core design goal. Seamless integration into your current setup, no need to redesign your cell.
What safety certifications does the system have?
Both systems, Hexopus and Hexopad, are targeting PL d, Category 3 (ISO 13849-1) and SIL 2 (IEC 61508).
Are the sensors reliable in harsh industrial environments? What IP rating do you have?
The product is rated IP67. Because the sensing principle is not optical, it is not dependent on line of sight and is not affected by dust or occlusion like other safety solutions.
Do I need specialized personnel for installation and calibration?
No — the systems are designed to be straightforward for a trained team, enabling a quick installation. Calibration is preconfigured in the software, ensuring efficient setup and low upkeep routine.
Do you provide technical support for integrating your products?
Yes. We provide technical support for installation as well as post-sales assistance to ensure smooth integration and operation.
What if the system fails? Is it redundant / fail safe?
Yes — The safety function is design around a redundant dual-channel architecture to meet PLd Category 3 certification.
Both channels perform the safety function in parallel; if one fails, the other immediately brings the system to a safe state.
What sets you apart from the competition?
Three things differentiate us:
- human-presence sensing approach rather than simply reacting to any object entering a fixed zone,
- localizedcoverage designed around the protected workspace, including 360° field of view,
- a retrofit-oriented architecture that can reduce the need to redesign the cell.
How does it integrate with other systems?
The outputs can be configured as OSSD for direct connection to safety controllers or as dry contacts for applications that do not use safety communication protocols.
